Affordable Care and Medicare Rally

Start: February 28, 2017  •  5:30 PM

Shain Park  •  201-299 Martin St, Birmingham, MI 48009, Birmingham, MI 48009

Host Contact Info: http://www.michiganpeoplescampaign.org

The purpose of this rally is to let Congress know, we will not stand idle while they erode the quality of healthcare in our country, or make inhumane cuts to it. There are approximately 887,000 people covered in Michigan through the Affordable Care Act. There are millions upon millions of others who could see Medicare health care costs rise if the ACA is repealed. Below is a list of statistics with regards to how the ACA impacts Michigan. Congressional Democrats have been telling us, we can win this fight, that Republicans in D.C don't really have a solution, and if we persist, we can push them off repealing the ACA and cutting Medicare. Let's make sure we show up so we can win this virtuous fight!

Plan: We will assemble at 5pm at Shain Park in downtown Birmingham (if you can't make it until 5:30 or so, that's fine). Parking information is below. From Shain Park, we will do a peaceful symbolic march through Birmingham, returning to Shain Park, where people will tell their personal stories about how the repeal of the ACA affects them, their families, and their patients.

Bring your friends, bring your family, bring your kids, and if you have one, a hospital gown. We hope to see you there!

(If anyone would like to speak about how the ACA personally affects you or your family, please email bakumor@gmail.com)
